Well...another great day in San Francisco!
Tons of walking the streets (in the non-prostitute sense of the word), enjoying the views and expending loads of energy...or at least enough that will allow us to be really sleepy when we get on tonight's plane to Taipei. We are both feeling good, as we got a super-relaxing pedicure at Chakra Spa in Union Square...so our feet are ready for the pounding they are about to take. :)
We are heading to SFO in about 30 minutes to meet up with our International Extremity Project friends ~ some old, some new ~ and to get all of our things 'loaded' onto the plane. It's quite a feat, so even though our flight doesn't leave until midnight tonight, it takes quite a bit of time to get us all checked-in with our loads of boxes/supplies/etc. There's a reason they limit us to 1 personal suitcase for the trip ~ we all get 2 or 3 boxes attached to our names for this outgoing part of the trip.
Speaking of suitcases...both mine and Amy's appear to be a little 'fluffy' and 'stretched', so we'll see how we fare in keeping with the 50# limit. I think our strategy might be to put our hand over the scale's LCD screen or distract the airline worker from looking at the actual weight of the bags. Fingers crossed...it's gonna be close!!
We'll arrive in Taipei at about 7am on Sunday morning (we lose a day on this leg) and then apparently will have to do an OJ Simpson-sprint through the Taipei airport, as our Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) flight leaves about an hour later. Unfortunately, this means no time in the luxurious Taipei EVA lounge. I really love taking a shower after this long leg, but alas, this time it's not to be! Maybe on the way back?
Well, likely my next post will be in a day or 2. Take care...and Vietnam...here we come!!
xoxo
Stacy
